北京匯文中學始建于1871年，是包括高中部、初中部以及國際部在內(nèi)的完全中學。2001年，成為北京市首批示范性普通高中校，2016年成立北京匯文中學教育集團。

Beijing Huiwen Middle School，founded in 1871，is a combined junior and senior high school with an international department. In 2001, it was selected as one of the first batch of exemplary high schools in Beijing. In 2016, the Beijing Huiwen Middle School Education Group was established.

學校校訓是“智、仁、勇”，《中庸》釋義為“好學近乎智，力行近乎仁，知恥近乎勇”。

The school motto is “wisdom, humanity, and courage”, which echoes with traditional Chinese philosophy. In the Confucian classic The Doctrine of the Mean, it is interpreted as, “To be fond of learning is to be close to wisdom.; to be committed to spreading kindness is to be close to humanity; to be reflective on one’s own mistakes is to be close to courage.”

Beijing Huiwen Middle School celebrates an educational notion that is people-oriented and development-focused. Emphasis is put on the school’s initiative to accommodate to needs of social advance and individual growth, to lay a solid foundation for students’ lifelong learning, and to create advantageous conditions for their sustainable development.

The school operates on the principle of holistic education, which concerns the following aspects of student development: enhancing physical health, fostering aesthetic emotion, developing professional competence, getting ready for higher education enrollment, practicing skills of time management, learning to become decent citizens, and forming noble moral characters. The school has always been devoted to cultivating future pillars of the nation with global visions, abilities to integrate various resources, and comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, work and aesthetics.

150年的辦學實踐，形成了深厚的人文積淀和歷史傳統(tǒng)，培養(yǎng)出以彭雪楓、張克俠為代表的老一輩無產(chǎn)階級革命家，和以王大珩、王忠誠、林同炎等三十多位院士為代表的著名科學家。作為東城區(qū)愛國主義教育基地，傳承學校百年紅色基因的責任感深深根植于匯文人的意識中，為推動匯文中學的發(fā)展，更好的承擔起時代賦予的重任起到了關(guān)鍵作用。校園內(nèi)矗立的彭雪楓烈士雕像、三一八紀念碑、五四火炬紀念碑，與一代代匯文師生的事跡及精神匯聚在一起，成為匯文中學紅色基因傳承的寶貴財富。

Through 150 years of practice in schooling, Beijing Huiwen Middle School has attained profound humanistic accumulation and historical traditions. It was home to the respectable older generation of proletarian revolutionaries, represented by Xuefeng Peng and Kexia Zhang. It is also the academic starting point for many accomplished scientists, for example, Daheng Wang, Zhongcheng Wang, Tongyan Lin, and thirty more academicians. As a patriotic education base in Dongcheng District, the sense of responsibility to inherit and pass on the school’s hundred-year-old revolutionary spirits has been deeply embedded into every Huiwener’s mind. This plays a crucial role in promoting the development of the school and taking on important missions that the era has presented. On the campus, the physical representations of Chinese national spirits – the statue of the communist martyr Xuefeng Peng, the March 18th Massacre monument, the May Fourth Movement torch monument – all integrate with the deeds and spirits of Huiwen’s teachers and students from generation to generation, which become precious treasures of the red gene inheritance.

校園占地面積80畝，硬件完善，設(shè)備一流。有高水平地理專用實驗室、水資源循環(huán)實驗室、現(xiàn)代化天象廳等40余個專用教室；有標準圖書館，藏書量12萬余冊；有400米跑道的操場和多功能體育館（游泳館、乒乓球館、羽毛球館、健身房、舞蹈教室）等，池塘、竹林、花園、水鳥、羊圈等優(yōu)美的校園環(huán)境，為師生課余提供了休憩場所。

The school covers an area of around 533 acres, boasting complete facilities and first-rate equipment. It possesses more than 40 customized classrooms, including a high-quality laboratory specialized for geographical learning, a water recycling experiment room, a modernized sky hall, and so forth. There is also a standardized library with a collection of over 120,000 books, a track-and-field ground with a 400-meter-long running track, and a multifunctional stadium equipped with a swimming pool, a ping-pong room, a badminton hall, a fitness center, and dancing classrooms. In addition, the campus scenery – together with the pond, bamboo grove, garden, waterfowl, and sheep – contributes to a relaxed and comforting environment.

學校擁有一支師德高尚、學識廣博、業(yè)務(wù)精良的教師隊伍。教職工280余人，中高級教師占比60%以上，其中正高級3人；碩士學位教師占比54%，其中博士10人；各級骨干教師占比19%，其中特級3人。學校尊重教師生命成長，激勵教師自主發(fā)展，以教研組建設(shè)帶動教師隊伍專業(yè)發(fā)展，以課程改革研究促進課堂教學改進，不斷提升教育質(zhì)量，取得豐碩成果。近兩年，有50余篇論文獲區(qū)市級以上獎勵，其中全國一等獎3篇。

Beijing Huiwen Middle School has a team of teachers with noble morality, extensive knowledge and excellent professional skills. There are more than 280 faculty members, over 60 percent of whom are upper intermediate teachers and 3 of whom have acquired senior title. Teachers who have got master degrees account for 54 percent, with 10 obtaining the doctoral degree. Backbone teachers at all levels cover 19 percent, 3 of whom with honors awards. The school respects the growth of teachers and motivates teachers’ self-development. It promotes teachers’ professional development by constructing teaching and research groups and facilitates classroom teaching improvement by implementing curriculum reform research. Beijing Huiwen Middle School has continuously improved the quality of education and has achieved fruitful results. In the past two years, more than 50 papers have won awards at the district or city level, including 3 first prizes at the national level.

學校始終把教會學生做人放在第一位，校園文化活動豐富多彩，形成了全面發(fā)展、學有特長、寬松開放育人的辦學特色。近年來，有50余名學生高考獲得東城區(qū)文理科前三名；為清華、北大輸送了100余位優(yōu)秀學生；國外大學錄取學生均進入世界或者全美排名前50學校；學科競賽成績優(yōu)異，連續(xù)幾年獲得全國物理奧賽銀牌，全國化學奧賽金牌，信息學奧賽、生物奧賽北京市一等獎；有六位同學獲得明天小小科學家稱號、北京青少年科技創(chuàng)新市長獎；連續(xù)十年獲評北京市優(yōu)秀學生榮譽稱號等；學校金帆合唱團、金鵬科技團、金奧運動隊也取得了一系列令人矚目的成績。

Ethics education is the school’s top priority. Cultural activities on campus are colorful and diversified, forming liberal and open education characteristics that encompasses comprehensive development and various specializations. In recent years, more than 50 students of liberal arts and science have ranked top three in the college entrance examination in Dongcheng District. Over 100 outstanding students have been matriculated in Tsinghua University and Peking University. Students who have been admitted into foreign universities have entered the top 50 schools in the United States or in the world. Students have also had excellent academic performances. In the past few years, they have continuously won the silver medals in the National Physics Olympiad, the gold medals in the National Chemistry Olympiad, and the first prize in Beijing Informatics Olympiad and the Biological Olympiad. Six students have won the title of Tomorrow's Little Scientist and Beijing Youth Science and Technology Innovation Mayor Award. Students have been awarded Beijing Excellent Student honorary titles for ten consecutive years. Jinfan Choir, Jinpeng Science and Technology Troupe, and Jin’ao Sports Team of the school have also achieved a series of remarkable results.

學校是基礎(chǔ)教育界最早的對外交流窗口學校之一，是聯(lián)合國教科文俱樂部在中國的第一個基層單位。學校積極推動中西文化交融，擴大對外交流合作，與法國、德國、丹麥、瑞典、韓國、日本、美國等國家，以及香港、臺灣等地區(qū)的十余所學校建立了友好交流關(guān)系，每年有數(shù)百名師生參加互訪活動。

Beijing Huiwen Middle School is one of the earliest window schools for foreign (cultural & academic) exchanges, and it is the first member of UNESCO club in China. It actively promotes the convergence of Chinese and Western culture, and expands foreign (cultural & academic) exchanges and cooperation. The school has established friendly exchanges with dozens of schools in various countries or regions, such as France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, South Korea, Japan, United States, Hongkong and Taiwan etc. There are hundreds of teachers and students participating in the mutual exchange activities every year.

學校是北京市首批可招收外籍學生學校之一，從1994年成立北京匯文語言文化學校至今，接待來自30多個國家和地區(qū)的長期、短期學習者4000余人。國際部高考成績長期穩(wěn)居我國基礎(chǔ)教育對外辦學領(lǐng)域第一名。

Beijing Huiwen Middle School is also one of the first batch of schools enrolling foreign students. Since the International Department was founded in 1994, it has received about 4,000 students from more than 30 countries and regions for long-term or short-term study. The college entrance admission result remains first stably for many years in the field of China's basic education open to foreign students.
